Industrial Horizontal Band Saw Machine Maintenance Tip 4

The fourth tip is all about the blade’s characteristics. To keep your blades last longer and perform better, it is always helpful to keep them in tip-top shape.

You know for a fact that the ideal tool is not necessarily the cheapest or the most expensive, but the one that has been carefully chosen to get the job done quickly, efficiently, and frugally.

Hardness: the hardness and the cutting tool’s strength have had to be maintained at certain elevated temperatures.

Toughness: this is required to avoid such chipping or fractures especially upon impact of the blades.

Wear resistance: this is attainment of acceptable tool life before it needs to be replaced.

So, if you are looking for a good blade to use or the next time you shop for a good blade to use for your tool, make sure it has these three characteristics. A wise shopper knows what he is buying.

How to you take care of the blades? For any blades not just the band saws, you make sure you brush the particles off or wipe it once with oil.

Stay tuned for the next tip on how to maintain your horizontal band saw machine.
