In stock

The SMG Roto-Edge 1200-LR is a large radius pipe beveling machine built to cold-mill bevels directly onto large diameter pipe, shell sections, and dished ends without secondary grinding. A milling head fitted with nine insert cutters covers clamp thicknesses from 9–100mm and produces a fully adjustable 0–90° bevel angle across U, V, K, and I joint preparations, including inner and outer bevel and 0-degree facing passes. The machine runs from a wheeled mobile stand with a handheld pendant remote control, letting the operator manage the cut from a safe working distance and avoid manually supporting the head during large-radius work.

Description

The SMG Roto-Edge 1000-LR is a large pipe beveling machine built around a milling head and insert cutter system that cold-mills the bevel face directly, so no secondary grinding pass is needed after machining. The cutter head carries six insert tips and runs at a fixed 1050 r/min spindle speed, with a milling feed rate adjustable from 0–1500mm/min to suit different material thicknesses and bevel profiles.

Clamping capacity extends from 6mm up to 60mm material thickness, with a clamp width/height over 300mm and a clamp diameter capacity over 1000mm – sizing the machine for large radius pipe beveling machine work such as large diameter pipe ends, shell sections, torispherical and dished heads, oval pipe, and conical pipe sections. The bevel angle is adjustable through the full 0–90° range, and the machine covers U, V, K, and I bevel joint preparations without requiring special machining, producing a consistent Ra 3.2–6.3 surface finish on the milled face.

Operator control is built around a wheeled mobile stand paired with a handheld pendant remote control. This lets the operator position the machine and run the milling cycle without manually bracing the cutter head against the workpiece, reducing physical strain when working around the edge of a large diameter pipe or dished end and keeping the operator’s hands clear of the cutting zone during operation.

Mounted on its mobile stand, the Roto-Edge 1000-LR is suited to both workshop fabrication bays and on-site deployment, including elevated or scaffold-supported work on large vessel shells. It is aimed at pressure vessel and tank fabrication, chemical industry equipment manufacture, and general heavy fabrication shops producing large pipe end beveling machine work as a dished end beveling machine or shell beveling machine, with the flexibility to run from a mobile head or an optional fixture/power arrangement depending on the job.

Feature Bullets
  • Cold-cutting milling head – Six-insert cutter head mills the bevel directly, removing the need for further grinding after machining.
  • Full 0–90° bevel angle range – Adjustable bevel angle covers square-face through to full 90° preparation on a single setup.
  • 6–60mm clamp thickness capacity – Handles material thickness from 6mm up to 60mm, suited to heavy pipe and shell wall sections.
  • Large clamp diameter capacity – Clamps onto workpieces over 1000mm in diameter with a clamp width/height over 300mm, sized for large diameter pipe beveler applications.
  • Multi bevel joint capability – Produces U, V, K, and I bevel joint preparations without special machining, suited to pressure vessel and tank fabrication.
  • Mobile stand with pendant remote control – Wheeled stand and handheld remote allow the operator to position and run the machine without manually bracing the cutting head.
  • Consistent milled finish – Delivers a surface finish of Ra 3.2–6.3 across the bevel face.
  • Material-specific tooling options – Insert tooling can be configured to suit different workpiece materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I purchase industrial machinery from a tool shop or reseller, or from an industrial machinery specialist?

Tool shops and general resellers may offer a wide product range, but often lack the specialised knowledge to properly assess applications or provide ongoing technical support. An industrial machinery specialist ensures the right machine is selected and fully supported long after purchase. In most cases, buying directly from the importer or specialist also results in a lower purchase cost, as additional reseller margins are not added.
