Rebar Processing Equipment for Australian Workshops
A reo workshop needs machines to cut, bend, shape and tie bar. This guide covers each one, what size to buy at Grade 500, and how the machines fit together, from a fabrication shop to a production line.
Capital Machinery Sales supplies, services and supports workshop rebar machinery across Australia, for over 20 years.
The core machines: benders and cutters
Every rebar workshop starts with a bender and a cutter. Pick both rated above the biggest bar you process every day, at Grade 500 (N bar).
- Rebar benders: the ICARO P series bends a single Grade 500 bar from 24mm (P26) up to 70mm (P70), and two or three bars at once for production. For everyday 32mm, the P42 (36mm). For 40mm, the P52 or P55.
- Rebar cutters: the ICARO C series cuts a single Grade 500 bar from 26mm (C32) to 62mm (C70). For everyday 32mm, the C42, which cuts 34mm single bar or three 20mm bars at once.
- Combined cutters and benders: the ICARO CP range bends from 28mm (CP26/32) to 48mm (CP50/54) on one machine and one motor. It takes nearly half the floor space of two machines, but does one job at a time.

Stirrups, ligs and spirals
- Stirrup bending machine: the ICARO ST16 bends 16mm single bar, or three 10mm bars at once, on 240V or 415V. It has four removable legs to move between sites.
- Stirrup attachment: every ICARO P series bender and CP machine takes an optional stirrup bending attachment with length stop, for lower volumes.
- Spiral and radius machines: the ICARO CAL 34 bends 6 to 34mm bar into circles of any radius and spirals from 15cm diameter. The Pronto SB32 spirals bar up to 32mm with an NC control cabinet and touchscreen.
Tying
The Reflex RTM45 cordless rebar tier ties in under a second and does up to 4,800 ties per charge on its 18.5V battery, with two batteries supplied.
Portable machines for site work
For repairs and site work up to 40mm, portable benders and cutters are carried to the job: PortaForce, Diamond, Reflex and Rapidcut. Sizes and power: Handheld Rebar Machinery Buyer’s Guide.
Setting up your workshop: what to check
- Bar size and grade: buy for your everyday bar at Grade 500, with headroom.
- Volume: high volume favours separate benders and cutters that work at once, and multi-bar capacity.
- Power: most workshop machines run on 415V three phase. The P26, P32, P36 and CP26/32 can run on 240V single phase with an optional inverter.
- Floor space: a combined CP machine saves space where floor space is tight.
- Shapes: add a stirrup bender or spiral machine if you make ligs, stirrups or spirals regularly.
- Support: check spare parts, bushes and pins are held in Australia, and who services the machine near you.
Example set-ups by bar size
Choose by the bar you process every day, not the size of your shop. Many large fabricators run small-bar machines alongside heavy ones.
- Everyday bar up to 24mm: ICARO CP26/32 combined cutter and bender (bends to 28mm), or a P26 bender with a C32 cutter. Add a Reflex RTM45 tier.
- Everyday 32mm: ICARO P42 bender (36mm) and C42 cutter (34mm), plus an ST16 for stirrups and ligs.
- 40mm and up: ICARO P52 or P55 bender, C52 or C55 cutter, and a CAL 34 for spirals.
Running a range of sizes? Pair machines for your biggest everyday bar, and add a smaller or combined machine for light work so both can run at once.

What is the best rebar bender for 32mm reo?
For everyday 32mm, a bender rated above it, such as the ICARO P42 (36mm single Grade 500 bar).
Can rebar machines run on 240V?
The ICARO P26, P32, P36 and CP26/32 can run on 240V single phase with an optional inverter. The ST16 stirrup bender comes in 240V or 415V. Larger machines run on 415V three phase.
